Benzino’s Beef with Eminem
The beef between Eminem and Benzion began after Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP” only received two out of four mics from Benzino’s (at that time) publication The Source. Eminem addressed it in lyrics on his “The Eminem Show” album. Benzino disliked the fact that Eminem, as a white rapper with corporate backing, was ruining blacks and latinos chance at success in the rap game. Eminem’s lyrics on his song “Without Me” angered Benzino, specifically the verse “Though I’m not the first king of controversy/ I am the worst thing since Elvis Presley/ To do Black music so selfishly/ and use it to make myself wealthy”.
Benzino released a diss track about Eminen; Eminem didn’t respond which further angered Benzino. Benzino released a second diss track called “Pull Your Skirt Up” on his album “Redemption”. This time Eminem responded with two diss tracks, “The Sauce” and “Nail in the Coffin”. The tracks criticized The Sources sketchy business practices and Benzino’s limited commercial success.
Not wanting to be outdone by Eminem, Benzino recorded a diss track that threatened Eminems daughter and called Eminem the 2003 Vanilla Ice and the Rap Hitler. Eminem when on air with DJ Angie Martinez to talk about his problems with Benzino, Eminem trash talked Benzino, calling him the worst rapper in the world. Benzino called in later and claimed that he would fight Eminem if they crossed paths.
While visiting a radio station in detroit, The Source’s founder Mays and Eminem got into it, which resulted in Benzino and Eminem feuding again. This time the fued included Busta Rhymes and 50 cent along with others associated with Eminem. Later a confrontation between Mays and Busta Rhymes resulted in Mays getting hit with a bottle by one of Busta’s entourage and landed him 50 stiches.
