Big Pun aka Christopher Lee Rios was originally from South Bronx, The Bronx, in New York. He was born on the 9th of Novembern in 1971 and was recognised in the late 1990’s when he teamed up with another Bronx rapper Fat Joe in which he appeared in Joe’s second album. He went under aliases such as Big Punisher, Big Pun and Big Moon Dawg. He had a really tough childhood witnessing his mother’s drug abuse and then watching his father walk out on the family, at the age of 15 he dropped out of school and was actually homeless for some time until he got into the rap scene. Big Pun lead a very promising career as a rapper with his debut album “Capital Punishment” released in 1998.
Big Pun was always overweight and at his peak reaching around 700pounds, he attended a weight loss program in order to get back on track but later dropped out. This eventually leads to his death on 7th February 2000 due to a fatal heart attack in White Plains, New York leaving his wife and three children alone.
