Chamillionaire (Hakeem Seriki)

 Chamillionaire (Born Hakeem Seriki on November 28, 1979) was born in Washington DC, but moved to Houston Texas at the age of 4. He grew up in the Acre Homes section of Houston, a inner-city neighborhood notorious for being dangerous, and was childhood friends with Paul Wall. Chamillionaire’s music career began in a gospel rap group called “The Sleepwalkers”. The group was made up of Paul Wall, TeRay “PKT” Green, and Chamillionaire. The group performed at many churches and in several youth hip hop festivals.

While promoting their music in Texas, Paul Wall and Chamillionaire met a popular mixtape producer named Michael 5000 Watts. When the two freestyled on Micheal 5000 Watts radio show in Houston on 97.9, Watts’ was convinced that the two had a future in rap and published some of the freestyle on one of his mixtape releases. The two were then signed to Watts’ label Swishahouse.
