Notorious BIG (Christopher Wallace)

Notorious BIG (Born as Christopher George Latore Wallace) was born on May 21st, 1972 in Brooklyn, NY. His original emcee name was Biggie Smalls (chosen in reference to a gangster in the 1975 film “Let’s Do It Again”), he has also gone by Big Poppa, Frank White, and his primary stage name The Notorious B.I.G. B.I.G. stood for Business Instead of Game. The Notorious BIG grew up during the 1980’s crack epidemic and began making money selling drugs at a young age. He released his first album in 1995, it was entitled “Ready To Die. The year after his initial commercial success, he put his childhood friends group Junior M.A.F.I.A. in the limelight and the group was moderately successful.

On March 9th, in 1997, Notorious BIG was shot to death by an unknown gunman during a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles outside of the Peterson Automotive museum. His album Life After Death, released fifteen days later.
