 Talib Kweli Greene was born in Brooklyn, New York on the 3rd of October in 1975. Kweli had an outstanding career as a alternative hip hop rapper and later went on to buying a local bookstore with rapper Mos Def and converted it into a center for education and learning. His father was a sociology professor while his mother was an English professor so he came from a very well educated background but swayed towards Afrocentric rappers in which he later began recording with his high school friend, Mos Def. Talib has two children, a son, Amani Fela and a younger daughter Diyani Eshe. In 2002 Talib went solo after the break up of former “Black Star” (Talib Kweli and Mos Def) with his release of Quality, from then on he appeared with several famous artists such as Kayne West and Bob Moore. He then went onto producing his own record label known as Blacksmith Records and has begun signing on young rappers which are showing potential such as Jean Grae and the group Strong Arm Steady.
