Cormega grew up in the Queensbridge Housing Projects and has represented Queensbridge throughout his musical career. As a child Cormega formed friendships with now-famous rappers like Nas, Mobb Deep, Capone-N-Noreaga, and Nature. At the age of 4, Cormega’s mother was murdered. He was sent to live with his father and stepmother. His stepmother forced him to read often and is likely the influence that got him into writing. Cormega had already gained much respect as a rapper and was well known in the Queensbridge Projects, and had even recorded an album with Marley Marl, but in his late teen years ended up in jail. After being released from jail Cormega has continued to produce solid albums with underground success, but has never managed to garner the success his childhood friends did.
