Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z was born on December 4, 1969. Shawn was born and raised in Marcy Houses housing project in Brooklyn New York. At just 12 years old Jay-Z was abandoned by his father. Jay-Z attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn, along with friend and fellow rapper AZ. He then attended George Westinghouse High School where he met fellow rappers Biggie Smalls and Busta Rhymes. Jay-Z is a self-proclaimed ex-drug-dealer. Jay-Z currently owns the New Jersey Nets and The 40/40 Club.
Jay-Z was accused of stabbing record exec Lance “Un” Rivera in 1999. Jay-z believed Rivera was bootlegging his album. The stabbing occurred on December 9th at Q-Tip’s solo album release party at the Kit Kat Klub in Times Square, NYC. Apparently Jay-Z’s entourage were wreaking havoc inside the club as a distraction for Jay-Z to stab Rivera in the stomach. Jay-Z denied the incident and plead not guilty, his lawyers told the jury that he wasn’t near Rivera during the stabbing and showed videotape evidence from the club that showed Jay Z’s innocence. Cam’ron claims that Jay-Z stabbed Rivera over a female rapper named Charlie Baltimore rather than the bootlegging accusations. Nas accuses Jay-Z of taking taking the wrap for the stabbing a member of his entourage committed.
