Ludacris (Born Christopher Brian Bridges September 11, 1977) started his life in Champaign, Illinois. His parents Roberta Shields and Wayne Bridges exposed him to a variety of music at a tender age, giving him a life-long love affair with music. This led him to become a local DJ known as DJ Chris Lova Lova. It was at a radio station in Atlanta, Georgia called Hot 97 which later turned into Hot 107.9. This is where he was discovered by Hip Hop producer Timbaland. They immediately teamed up to record Ludacris’ debut “Phat Rabbit”. The next year, Ludacris cut his own album and sold them out of his car. He sold over 50,000 copies of his independent album Incognegro and then shortly after signed with Def Jam Records who created Def Jam South and re-released Incognegro again, this time it was a newer version called “Back for the First Time”.

Ludacris continued to put out hip hop/rap albums including: Back for the First Time, Word of Mouth, Chicken and Beer, The Red Light District, Release Therapy, and Theater of the Mind. Ludacris is also well known for the tracks he provided for movies, many of them he starred in himself. After disputes with some big named celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Bill O’Reilly, and other well known rappers, Ludacris’ lyrics were directly related to these events. Ludacris continues to crank out the hits today, despite his critics.
