Gun Charges Dropped for Alchemist, Prodigy Isn’t So Lucky

Yesterday, October 4th, 2007, Prodigy of Mobb Deep was in court for gun possession charges that stemmed from an incident last fall.

In October of 2006 police pulled over a highly bulletproofed Chevy Suburban for making an illegal u-turn onto a one-way street. Inside the vehicle was Prodigy and Alchemist of Mobb Deep. Due to the heavy bulletproofing and erratic driving on Prodigy’s part, police searched the vehicle and found a loaded 22 caliber pistol in the vehicles center console. Two of the arresting officers testified that they saw Prodigy’s hand near the open center console door.

Both Prodigy and Alchemist were arrested at the scene, but charges against Alchemist have since been dropped.

Prodigy may face up to 15 years in prison if convicted as a result of his two previous gun possession charges. The case is set to take place on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007.
