Obie Trice (Born Obie Trice III) was born on November 14th, 1977 in Detroit, MI. At the age of 11 he began rapping using his real name rather than adopting a stage persona. Before being signed to Shady records in 2000, Obie had several underground hits, including “My Club”, “Respect”, and “The Well Known Asshole”.

Obie was signed to Eminem’s Shady Records after his friend Bizarre (a member of D12) introduced Obie to Eminem. Obie’s first commercial record appearance was on D12’s album “Devil’s Night”. He was also featured on Eminem’s “Without Me” and appeared in the video for that song, on which he body slams a dummy of techno artist Moby. Obie Trice appeared in Eminem’s “8 Mile” and played one of the rappers in the parking lot scene.

In December of 2005, Obie was shot while driving with his girlfriend on the Lodge Expressway in Detroit. He was hit with two bullets, one of which entered his head. Trice continued driving and pulled off the expressway where he waved down a patrol car. He was taken to the hospital and released with the bullet still in his head. The doctors decided it was too dangerous to operate to remove the bullet.
