Outkast is one of the most successful hip hop groups of all time selling millions of copies and touring around the world. Its members, Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000) and Antwon Patton (Big Boi) met when they went to the same high school and became music rivals often challenging each other to MC battles which got them well known. Later on they got persuaded to team up and work together with their unique talents and Outkast was born.
In 1992 Outkast was the first hip hop group that LaFace records had ever signed up and went onto releasing their first single in 1993 with “Players Ball”. September 2003 Outkast released an unusual album “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” which was a double album, one solo album by each of the members although they would both appear on some tracks as backup. The album had a wide music coverage with Big Boi’s consisting of mainly funk and dirty south whereas Andre 3000’s had elements of jazz, funk, R&B and some brief elements of hip hop thrown in there as well.
